7 ways to increase the value of your home

a very cozy living area

You don’t need to make major renovations to increase the value of your home. The ideas listed below will help boost your property’s value and attract more buyers in no time.

  1. Change the color of your kitchen cabinets

Repainting your kitchen cabinets can quickly upgrade the look of your kitchen. While universally loved, white is out in 2020. Instead, designers are touting various shades of green for the way they evoke nature. Make sure to choose a hue that conforms to the size and amount of natural light your kitchen receives. Aqua is another on-trend color.

  2. Elevate your curb appeal

One surefire way to increase the value of your home is through its curb appeal. A home with great curb appeal instantly creates a positive first impression on potential buyers and invites them to take a look inside.

One way to elevate your curb appeal is by adding outdoor lighting fixtures that highlight the landscaping and architecture of your home. Garden lights, lanterns, sconces, spotlights, step lights, and motion-sensor lights are just a few of the outdoor lighting fixtures to consider.

Even the smallest of tasks can make a huge difference when it comes to boosting your home’s value. Well-trimmed trees or shrubs, for instance, improve the appeal and the overall look of your home.

  3. Replace the front door

Your front door also has an impact on how buyers see your home. A new front door can make a statement based on its material, color, and accessories. Choose a door style and color that complement the home’s exterior.  Consider accessories such as a doorknocker or mail slot. Adding an ornamental plant on either side of the door will also enhance its look.

  4. Add a sprinkler system

Depending on the season and time of day, turning on your sprinkler system when you prepare for a private home showing conjures feelings of calm and domesticity.  A good sprinkler system also tells prospective homebuyers that they won’t have to worry about maintaining the lawn.

  5. Invest in smart technology

According to current statistics, 81% of buyers will opt to buy a home if smart home products were already installed. Devices such as a smart thermostat, smart smoke detector, and smart speakers are now essential in many homes.

All of these devices can be connected to a smart security system, which allows the homeowner to manage and control these devices through one app on their phone.

  6. Improve insulation

When it comes to increasing the value of your home, a little more insulation goes a long way.  Properly insulated walls ensure the efficiency of your heating and cooling system This can be achieved by weather-stripping or using air sealing to prevent air leakage, inspecting vents, or installing attic fans.

  7. Take care of minor repairs

The devil is in the details so you can increase your home’s value by undertaking repairs on the small stuff like cracked tiles or paving stones, or loose door hinges. Replace worn or outdated doorknobs and drawer pulls to something on-trend.
