Luxury home interior design trends

Searching for ways to update your luxury interiors? Here are the latest décor trends to consider:

Monochromatic interiors

Monochromatic spaces are making a comeback in interior design. A monochromatic color scheme means using a single color in several ways, whether it’s through tones, shades, or tints. Monochromatic interiors don’t just mean neutrals, either. Using bolder colors such as deep blue, green, and purple layered against various shades of the same color does the trick as well.

If you plan to DIY, the best way to build a monochromatic look is by starting small, according to Architectural Digest. Confine your unicolor experiment to the bathroom, for example, instead of larger spaces like the living room or the kitchen. If you like what you see, tackle a bigger room like your home office, before proceeding to an even larger area of the house.

Multifunctional spaces

Multifunctional areas can do wonders for the home, as seen in the ongoing popularity of open plan homes. By eliminating the walls that divide the main living space, an open concept allows the kitchen to flow naturally into the living area, and perhaps, onto a backyard patio. The effect is one of airiness and unimpeded movement. As for function, the kitchen island can also be a place to entertain guests as you prep meals, or for kids to work on their assignments. Others have incorporated a play area in their living rooms so they can keep an eye on toddlers. A simple way to create a multifunctional space in your luxury home is by rearranging the furniture. This can be achieved by using rugs and lighting to delineate work, play, and relaxation areas.

Biophilic design

Biophilic design incorporates nature and natural elements indoors. Aside from using natural materials, this style also incorporates outside light, indoor plants, and colors found in nature.

Mixed metals

Looking to elevate your luxury space? Mixed metals are the way to go. Mixing warm metals with cool metals, for example, add character and contrast. Brass with stainless steel, rose gold and copper, and silver with gold are dramatic combinations that work.

Before you start mixing metals, choose a dominant and one or two accent metals. Neutral metals can be used with both warm and cool metals. This way, the qualities of each metal can balance the other out. You can also use metal accessories with similar finishes for a consistent look.

Bold wall and floor patterns

If there’s one way to make a statement, it’s through a bold pattern on your floor or walls. Think of a large floral wallpaper design for an accent wall. Or a stained concrete floor for a modern, industrial look. Look through home design sites for inspiration or if you’d like to figure out how your choices can best complement the existing design elements of the room.

Statement artwork

There’s no better way to enhance the look and feel of your luxury home than through art. Whether it’s a painting, a sculpture, photographs, lithographic prints, or mixed media pieces, art is always a great addition to your home’s design. You can bring a favorite piece out of storage and make it the room’s focal point. Or shop for pieces that complement your aesthetic.

Bold home accessories

Make a statement with bold furnishings. Incorporating the finer examples of today’s resurgent home trends – rattan furniture, macramé wall hangings, bar carts – can transform your luxury home into something tastefully on-trend.
